Formerly the National Music Council Music Education Awards, the new Music Education Awards are now run by the Music Education Council. The awards celebrate the work of hubs in England and music services in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that demonstrate imaginative, inclusive and all round high-quality music provision. Drawing attention to such best practice allows colleagues to learn from each other and share their exemplary practice more widely. These awards also offer the opportunity to promote widely the value and importance of everybody’s work, helping to secure the future of high quality music education for all.
To ensure a high profile for your work, we are again working in collaboration with Rhinegold Media & Events. The shortlist of nominations for the MEC Music Education Award will be announced as part of Music Teacher magazine’s Awards for Excellence in the autumn of 2016. The winner will then be announced at a gala dinner (to which a representative from each shortlisted submission will be invited) on 9th February as part of Music Education Expo 2017. We hope to be able to provide other platforms for presenting exemplary work from submissions too, such as at Music Mark’s annual conference in November 2016; and at Music Education Expo itself.
All music services and hubs may apply, and all are treated fairly: the judging panel taking into account the size of each service and its funding in making its decisions. We think you will find a submission easy to make: our form asks very few statistical questions, demands no lengthy answers, and does not require you to attach additional information.
We look forward to receiving your submission (sent by email to email@example.com) by Tuesday 27 September 2016. If you have any queries meanwhile, email Angela Ruggles on the above e-mail address (allow at least a week for replies).
